Age Limit

• Age cutoff: 7 September 2026
• ITI: At least 15 and below 24 years
• Non-ITI: At least 15 and below 22 years
• SC / ST relaxation: 5 years
• OBC relaxation: 3 years, with the prescribed non-creamy-layer certificate
• PwBD relaxation: 10 years, subject to notified disability and trade suitability

Vacancies: 1,010 apprenticeship training slots: 330 freshers and 680 ex-ITI

Eligibility & Qualification

• Freshers - Fitter / Electrician / Machinist: Class 10 with at least 50% aggregate and Science and Mathematics; training 2 years
• Freshers - Carpenter / Painter: Class 10 with at least 50% aggregate; training 2 years
• Freshers - Welder: Class 10 with at least 50% aggregate; training 1 year 3 months
• Freshers - MLT: Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology; training 1 year 3 months
• Ex-ITI trades: Class 10 with at least 50% and the relevant NCVT/SCVT National Trade Certificate of one year or above; Science and Mathematics also required for Fitter, Electrician and Machinist. Training 1 year.
• PASAA: Class 10 with at least 50% and the notified certificate in Information Technology, COPA, Database System Assistant or Software Testing Assistant; training 1 year
• Residence / registration: Tamil Nadu resident and/or registered with a local employment exchange within Tamil Nadu by the application deadline; the notice exempts wards of railway employees subject to prescribed identity/service proof
• Higher qualifications: Degree, diploma, engineering-degree holders and course-completed Act Apprentices are not eligible under the notice. MLT specifically requires Class 12.
• PwBD: At least 40% relevant disability, prescribed government certificate and the trade-specific permitted disability in the notice
• Training conditions: No employment or railway absorption is guaranteed. Food and accommodation are at the candidate's own cost.

Salary & Job Location

• Salary / stipend: Monthly training stipend: Class 10 freshers Rs 8,200; Class 12 freshers and ex-ITI certificate holders Rs 9,600. The notice provides a 10% increase in the prescribed minimum stipend in the second training year.
• In-hand salary: This is an apprenticeship stipend, not a regular-job salary; in-hand deductions are not stated
• Job location: Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu residence/employment-exchange rule applies, with the notified exception for wards of railway employees.

Selection Process

1. ICF prepares the merit list from the notified school marks.
2. Equal marks: older candidate first; if date of birth is also equal, the candidate who passed Class 10 earlier comes first.
3. Freshers receive a trade according to merit, preference and available slots; ex-ITI candidates train in their certificated trade.
4. Selected candidates must produce originals, the qualifying transfer certificate and the prescribed government-doctor medical certificate at verification.
5. Execute the apprenticeship contract; training does not create a right to a railway job.
