- One-time registration: 31 August–19 September 2026; closed at 5:00 PM IST
- Application and fee window: 2–21 September 2026; closed at 5:00 PM IST
- Correction window: 23–24 September 2026; closed at 5:00 PM IST

Application Fee
- Application fee: ₹100 for non-exempt applicants for posts in the chosen division
- Exempt categories: All women, SC/ST, PwBD and transwomen applicants are exempt.
- Payment: Online; applicable transaction charges are additional. Fee once paid is non-refundable.
Age Limit
- Age cutoff: 21 September 2026, the last application date
- Base age band: 18–40 years
- SC / ST: 5 years' upper-age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years' upper-age relaxation
- PwBD: 10 years; PwBD-OBC 13 years; PwBD-SC/ST 15 years
- EWS: No upper-age relaxation

Eligibility & Qualification
- Qualification reference: As on the notification date, 20 August 2026
- Class 10: Passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognised board; the notice excludes merely equivalent qualifications from other boards.
- Local language: Normally studied through Class 10. Check Annexure III and the separate rules for Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim and Nagaland.
- Other requirements: Knowledge of computers and cycling, and adequate means of livelihood.
- BPM residence: Selected BPMs must arrange suitable Branch Post Office accommodation at their own cost and reside in the post village.
- ABPM / Dak Sevak residence: Residence within the delivery jurisdiction of the concerned post office is required.
- Service conditions: GDS are not regular Central Government employees. The notification specifies separate engagement rules and a 4–5 hour daily work requirement.
Salary & Job Location
- Salary / stipend: Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA): BPM ₹12,000–29,380; ABPM/Dak Sevak ₹10,000–24,470. Dearness allowance and other benefits are governed by GDS rules.
- Job location: Notified postal circles and divisions across India; post-specific local-language and residence rules apply.
